1) PM Modi joined Chinese social media platform Weibo:
--> Prime Minister Narendra Modi has joined Chinese social media platform Weibo.
--> Weibo is often referred to as Twitter of China.
--> Announcing the news of his joining Weibo on Twitter, PM Modi said, "Hello China! Looking forward to interacting with Chinese friends through Weibo."
--> PM Modi has joined Chinese social media platform just weeks before his scheduled visit to the country.
--> The Chinese microblogging service Weibo rolled out an IPO in April 2014. 

2) World Asthma Day 2015 observed:
--> World Asthma Day 2015 was observed globally on 5 May 2015.
--> Theme of the year is You Can Control Your Asthma and sub-theme is It’s Time to Control Asthma.
--> World Asthma Day takes place on the first Tuesday of May.
--> The inaugural World Asthma Day was held in 1998.

3) World’s largest flag unfurled in Tunisia:
--> World’s largest flag was unfurled at an event in Ong Jmel in the southern desert area of Tunisia.
--> Tunisian national flag of the size of 19 football pitches was unfurled in a bid to set a Guinness World Record and promote patriotism in the face of Islamist extremism.
--> The flag of 104,544 square metre was made using 80 kilometres of fabric and weighed arounf 12.6 tonnes.

4) BHEL commissioned Bijlee Utpadan's thermal unit in Bihar:
--> State-owned electrical equipment maker Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has commissioned a 195-MW thermal unit in Muzzafarpur district in Bihar.
--> The commissioned thermal unit is the first of the two 195-MW units to be commissioned by BHEL at the thermal power plant of Kanti Bijlee Utpadan Nigam (KBUNL).
--> KBUNL is a joint venture of NTPC and Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited.

5) Gender neutral 'Mx' 'to be added' to Oxford English Dictionary:
--> In a first, a gender-neutral new title “Mx” could soon join Mr, Mrs, Miss and Ms as an honorific for transgender people and anyone else who does not identify with a particular gender.
--> Over the past two years, the title has been quietly added to official forms and databases in Britain and is now being considered for inclusion in the next edition of the Oxford English Dictionary (OED).

6) Future Group's retail business to merge with Bharti Retail:
--> The Board of Directors of Kishore Biyani-owned Future Retail approved the consolidation and realignment of its retail operations with Bharti Retail Ltd.
--> To streamline the operations resulting from the consolidation, the respective boards of directors propose to demerge the retail business of Future Retail to Bharti Retail and to demerge the infrastructure business of Bharti Retail to Future Retail, a company statement said.
--> The first, to be known as Future Retail, will host the retail operations of both entities while the second, to be known as Future Enterprises, will host the infrastructure, investments and assets of both the companies.

7) Sandeep Jajodia removed as Boxing India President:
--> Boxing India president Sandeep Jajodia was removed as the president of the Boxing India as he lost the no-confidence motion 2-55 in a special general meeting
--> Accepting the defeat, Jajodia sent a letter to all the members appealing them to think for the betterment of the sport.

8) Army athletes emerged champions in Federation Cup:
--> The Indian Army team emerged champions in the 19th Federation Cup national senior athletic championship, scoring 123.5 points at the end of the four-day event at the Mangala stadium in Mangaluru.
--> The Tamil Nadu team came second by securing 114 points.
--> Kerala claimed the overall championship in the women's category with 86 points followed by Karnataka with 68 points.

9) AIFF chief Praful Patel elected AFC vice-president:

--> All India Football Federation (AIFF) President Praful Patel was recently elected unopposed as Asian Football Confederation (AFC) vice-president, South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Region.
