Educational Qualification :
  • ASI (RM) : Matric with 3 year Diploma in Radio and TV Technology or Electronics or Telecommunication or Computer or Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Domestic Appliances from an) institution recognized by the Central Government or State Government. OR 10+2 or Intermediate or equivalent with aggregate marks of Fifty percent with selective subject being Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized Board or University or Institution.
  • HC (RO) : Matriculation or equivalent and two year Industrial Training Institute Certificate in Radio and TV or Electronics or Intermediate or I 0+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized Board or Institution.

Age Limit :
  • Not below 18 years or over 25 years a on 15-07-2016 (closing date) for General Category.
  • Not below 18 years or over 28 years a on 15-07-2016(closing date) for OBC Category.
  • Not below 18 years or over 30 years as on 15-07-2016 (closing date) for SC & ST Category.

Pay Scale : Rs. 2800/- per month for ASI(RM) and Rs.5200- 20,200 (PB-I) plus Grade pay of Rs. 2400/- per month for HC(RO) respectively.

Mode of Payment :A Bank Draft of amount Rs. 50/- (Rupees fifty) only by General and OBC candidates as the examination fee will be prepared in favour of the Inspector General/DIG/Comdt, to whom the print out of application has to be sent and payable at respective SBI/ Post office. However the Sc / ST & BSF serving personnel and female candidates of all categories are not required to submit examination fee. Bank Draft number has to be filled in specific column / boxes provided in the online application form. One print out of online application form along with Original Bank Draft will be sent to the recruitment centers of their choice as selected online, within 15 days from last date of online application form.

Method of Selection : 
  • First Phase: 
    • Written Examination (OMR Based screening test)
    • Descriptive Written Test:
      • FOR ASI (RM): Candidates who qualify descriptive test will allen 2nd phase.
      • FOR HC (RO): Candidates must qualify descriptive test as well as dictation test during this phase 
  • Second Phase: PST, PET, Documentation and Final Medical (Candidates who qualify all the above tests will be put through a detailed medical examination to assess their fitness.)

Syllabus for Written Exam:
  • Written Exam - 100 Questions of 200 Marks in 2 hours.
    • Part - I. Physics: 50 Marks
    • Part - II. Mathematics: 50 Marks
    • Part - III. Chemistry: 50 Marks
    • Part - IV. English & GK: 50 Marks (Current Affairs, History, Geography & General Science)
    • Negative Marking: for a question of 2 marks of multiple-choice based, 0.50 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Descriptive Written Test: The candidates who qualifies OMR based written test will appear in descriptive test. A separate call letter will be issued to all qualified candidates by recruitment centre concerned to attend the descriptive test as well second phase.
    • ASI / RM Candidates: A Paper of maximum 200 marks covering Physics, Chemistry, Malhs & Electronics subject (12th standard/Diploma level)
    • HC / RO Candidates: Candidates will be tested for two categories as per following procedure:
    • Written Test (Descriptive Pattern: A paper of maximum 100 marks covering Physics, Chemistry & English (12"' standard).
  • Dictation Test:
    • Dictation test (in English writing) of minimum 100 words (100 Marks)
    • Both above descriptive tests will be mandatory and the final merit will be prepared on the marks obtained in these tests. 
  • Evaluation /marking system of dictation test is as under:
    • 2.5 Marks will be deducted for each omission/mistake of single letter.
    • 5 Marks will be deducted for each word mistake/omission.

    UPSC IAS, IFS exams 2016: Details regarding the official notification



    The official notification for the civil service IAS and IFoS (Indian Forest Service) exam 2016 will be released by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) April 23.



    The official notification for the civil service IAS and IFoS (Indian Forest Service) exams 2016 will be released by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) April 23. All those who are interested in working with the elite services, may register for the exam at the official websitewww.upsconline.nic.in.
    The application for the same can be submitted till 20 May. The preliminary examination for the same will be held on August 7.
    Attempts
    Six attempts are allowed to every candidate appearing for the exam. However, this restriction on the number of attempts will not apply for candidates belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes category.
    There are three levels of this exam, namely: Preliminary exam, main exam and personality test or interview. Only after clearing all the three rounds, the candidates will be eligible for the posts of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and others.
    Eligibility criteria
    Educational qualification:
    IAS: Those interested in applying for this exam, should be a citizen of India. Candidates from Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan refugees and immigrants with Indian origin will have to submit a certificate of eligibility that has been issued by the Government of India, as an evidence of their eligibility.
    The candidates should be holding a degree from any of Indian universities or an equivalent qualification from any recognised university. Those who have appeared or intend to appear for the qualifying examination and are awaiting results are also eligible to appear for the exam.
    IFS: Those interested in applying for this exam should be holding a Bachelor's degree with at least one of the subjects namely, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture/ Forestry/Engineering of a recognised university or equivalent.
    Candidates appearing for their degree examination (with prescribed subjects) are also eligible to compete. Those qualifying the written examination will be required to submit the proof of passing the requisite examination along with their detailed application form to be filled up at that stage.
