(a) 21
(b) 27
(c) 28
(d) 30

ANSWERS AND SOLUTION
1.(c) Total age of 35 students
= 35 * 15 = 525 years
Total age of 36 students including teacher = 36 * 16 = 576 years
so Teacher’s age = 576 – 525 = 51 years

2.(b) Let principal be Rs. x
so According to question,
Simple Interest
= (x × 10 × 2)/100 = Rs.x/5
so Compound Interest = x[(1+10/100)^2- 1]
= x[(121-100)/100]= Rs. 21x/100
Now,
21x/100-x/5=20
so x= 20 * 100
= Rs. 2000

3.(c) Total weight of A + B +C
= 84 × 3 = 252 kg.
Total weight of A + B + C + D
= 80 × 4 = 320 kg
so Weight of D
=320-252=68kg
Weight of E
= 68 + 3 = 71 kg
Let weight of A be x kg.
so According to question.
(320 – x + 71)/4 = 79
so x = 75 kg.

4.(d) Required C.P.
= (820 + 650)/ 2 = 1470/2 = Rs. 735

5.(a) Let the C’s salary be Rs. 100
so Salary of B = 40% of 100
= Rs. 40 and salary of A
= 35% of 40 = Rs. 14
so Total salary of A, B and C =
100 + 40 + 14 = Rs. 154 and difference of salary of A and B = 40 – 14 = 26
Now,
When total sum is 154 then difference is 26
so If total sum is Rs. 19,250 the difference
= (26 * 19,250)/154 = Rs. 3,250

6.(a) Total cost price
= 16 * 9.40 + 25 * 8.50
= 150. 40 + 212. 50
= Rs. 362.90
Selling price of 41 kg. wheat at the rate of Rs. 8.95 kg.
= 41 * 8.95 = Rs. 366. 95
so Total profit = 366.95 – 362.90 = Rs. 4.05

7.(b) Remaining amount
= 100 – (30 + 15 + 10) = 45%
so 45% = Rs. 900
so 100% = (900 * 100)/45 = Rs. 2000

8.(c) Present population
=  10000 (1-20/100)^2
= 10000 ×(4/5)^2
= 10000 ×16/25=6400

9.(c) Relative speed of trains
= 40 + 50 = 90 km/hr
= 90 ×5/18 = 25m/sec.
And total distance
= 235 + 190 = 425m
Time taken to cross
= 425/25 = 17 seconds

10.(d)  Required answer
= (21 ×15 ×8)/(14×6) = 30 days
