ANSWERS

1. (2)
Let CP = a, SP = 1.2 a
New CP = 0.8 a
New SP = 1.2 × 0.8 a = 0.96 a
1.2a – 0.94a = 264
0.24a = 264
a = 1100
2. (1)
Let Principal = P
Compound interest at 20% per annum for 2 years
= 44% of P (20 + 20 + 4)
44% of P = 880
P = 2000
Simple Interest for 4 years at 10% per annum
=40% of 2000 = 800
3. (5)
Govind’s monthly expanses = 64000
Ratan’s monthly expenses = 64000 + 30% of 64000
= 83,200
Raman’s monthly expenses = 6 × 83,200 = 4, 99,200
Raman’s annual expenses = 59, 90,400
4. (2) Total number of teachers in school = 5200
Number of male teachers = 45% of 5200 = 2340
Number of male teachers who are less than 30 years =
30% of 2340 = 702
5. (5) Required amount = 40 × 14 + 16 × 44 + 12 × 300 + 14 × (14 + 44 + 28)

6. (1) Score of Sita = 456 - 24 = 432
Let maximum marks be A, then 54% of A = 432
A = 800
Passing marks = 34% of 800 = 272
Required difference = 456 – 272 = 184

7. (4) Let the ages of Sohan, Sumit & Sarita are 6a, 8a &10a.
Average age = (6a + 8a +10a)/3 = 8a
8a = 28
a = 3.5
Sum of the ages of Sohan and Sumit together after 5 years = 6a + 5 + 8a + 5 =14a + 10 =59 years

8. (4)
Speed of train = 144 × 5/18 =40 m/s
Let length of train be A, then
(480 +A)/40 = 36
480 +A = 1440
A = 960.
Now, speed of man = 960/480 = 2m/s

9. (3) Let the angles be 6a and 2a.
6a + 2a + 44 = 180
8a = 136
a = 17.
Largest angle = 6 × 17 = 102
Required value = 1.5 × 102 = 153

10. (5) Let Chirag’s share = a
Bobby’s share = 0.75a
Raman’s share = 1.25 × 0.75a =0.9375a
a + 0.75a + 0.9375a = 2.6875a =731
a = 272
